My name’s Richard Eaton and I’ve been a London based professional photographer since the mid 1990’s. Since then I’ve worked for numerous national and international publications and organisations, and my photographs have been widely published.
The idea of my book began when a tourist spotted me with a couple of cameras hanging off my shoulders and asked me for some help and advice. A few weeks later I was taking a break from a day long assignment near Piccadilly Circus. I decided to head there to see if anything particularly photogenic was happening. It’s always busy and as I stood and watched people photographing Eros and the neon lights, I wondered what sort of images they’d be capturing from where they stood. Not the best ones I thought!
So I decided tourists and photographers needed some help taking photographs of London and started to photograph my home city. With time, trial and error, I have captured what I consider to be the most iconic images of London, from the best viewpoints and have published an eBook called Photographing London, full of my photographs, with descriptions and maps as to how I took them.
